Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel during 1988's presidential debates, which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's initial White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. It was a time when both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively with the President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
